FORD RACING MUSTANG FR500C CAPTURES THIRD
VICTORY IN FOUR RACES WITH WIN AT MAZDA RACEWAY
LAGUNA SECA

Mustang FR500C
#05 leads the pack during the Grand-Am Cup
Monterey 200 |
MONTEREY, Calif.,
Apr. 30 – In a testament to the durability and
performance of both car and drivers, the Ford
Racing Multimatic Motorsports Mustang FR500C
driven by Scott Maxwell and David Empringham
took the checkered flag for their first win of
the season, and the third win of the season for
a Mustang FR500C, at the Grand-Am Cup California
200 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
"I couldn’t have asked for anything better than
back-to-back victories during Grand-Am’s
California swing," said Dan Davis, director,
Ford Racing Technology, referring to the Ford
Racing Mustang FR500C victories at California
Speedway and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. "The
racing is very competitive, and the Mustang
FR500C is proving to be a strong performer with
the ability to take a few hits."
With a third
place qualifying position, but second place
starting position due to a competitor’s
disqualification, Multimatic Motorsports drivers
Maxwell and Empringham took an early lead. After
contact with lapped car, the #05 FR500C wasn’t
expected to be up for the challenge to make a
run for the front. But Empringham disagreed, and
once behind the wheel, he worked the Mustang
back to the front of the pack to capture
victory.
Tom Natasi and Ian James, the winners of the
season-opener at Daytona, took third place in
their #5 FR500C, while Multimatic’s drivers
James Gue and Gunnar Jeannette finished fourth
after two BMWs had to head for the pits due to
flat tires on the last lap.
Gue and Jeannette lead the points in the series’
drivers’ championship, with Maxwell and
Empringham moving into a tie for second place.
Ford continues to lead in championship points
for the manufacturers’ title.
The Ford Racing Mustang FR500C was developed by
Ford Racing Technology and is available through

"ready-to-race" package for the Grand-Am Cup
