The Ford Focus got exterior styling updates and new features for the 2015 model year.
The hatchback’s front fascia was revised so it would be in sync with the other new Ford models. The taillights and the trunk lid were also updated.
The most significant change is found under the hood. Instead of carrying the four-cylinder engine over from the previous model, Ford gave the Focus a 1.0-liter three-cylinder that accelerates like a four but saves fuel like a three. It produces 120 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque.
Fuel economy figures are not yet out but they are most likely to be impressive, not just because of the few-cylinder engine but also because of the standard manual transmission.
Also new to the Ford hatchback is a rearview camera that makes parking maneuverability easier. A blind spot warning system is available.
Ford has not yet announced how much the latest Ford Focus would cost. But the price would probably not exceed the 2014 model’s price.
Some of its rivals in the compact-car segment include Kia Forte, Mazda3 and Dodge Dart. The 2015 Ford Focus will be available in the market starting the second half of this year.
