2014 Chevrolet Impala Review

April 14, 2014

The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala has the room, ride quality and price tag for a perfect family car. The head turner also behaves well on the road and won’t disappoint in almost all areas of performance. Check out the transformed Impala below.

Every 2014 Chevrolet Impala is powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 195 horsepower and 197 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission are standard. But the Impala LT and LTZ models can be had with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 305 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque.

According to the EPA, the 2014 Impala returns 21 mpg in city, 31 mpg on a highway, and 25 mpg combined with the standard 4-cylinder engine. With the V6, the figures decline to 19/29/22 mpg.

The new Impala drives like a small car. And although it is not considered as a sport sedan, it never feels sluggish and gets more agile and balanced the longer you drive. Steering is accurate but some reviewers found it a little light. The ride is generally smooth but the suspension is not perfect because you can still feel the bumps. The Impala remains stable around turns and feels natural when going back to a straight line.

The 6-speed automatic transmission works smoothly. The V6 pushes the Impala to a competitive, exciting and seamless acceleration. No amount of engine noise can be heard in the cabin.

The interior of the Impala has been transformed for 2014. It finally looks sophisticated and modern. The Impala has a longer wheelbase now which expanded the legroom both in front and at the back. Seats are comfortable. There are several choices of upholstery materials, functions and adjustments especially for the front seats.

The trunk is a spacious 18.8-cubic-foot. This can even be expanded by folding the rear seatbacks down.
