2014 Cadillac SRX Review

March 27, 2014

The 2014 Cadillac SRX offers great styling, impressive cabin tech and powerful engine. If you are looking for a luxury family vehicle, you should give this Caddy crossover a look.

  • standard IntelliBeam headlights on Premium models
  • new wheel designs

A 3.6-liter V6 engine motivates the 2014 Cadillac SRX with 308 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard and sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is also available, except for the base models.

The EPA fuel economy ratings of2014 Cadillac SRX are 17 mpg in city, 24 mpg on highway, and 19 mpg combined with front-wheel drive system. All-wheel-drive models get 16/23/18.

The SRX is not the most athletic vehicle you can find in the segment. But it certainly has a balanced and comfortable ride and powerful engine. Acceleration is not excellent enough to be described as thrilling, though. But the 6-speed automatic is sporty. Shifts can be felt but never harsh.

Reviewers are impressed about the excellent compromise of crisp handling and ride comfort the SRX delivers. Other crossovers would offer one in expense of the other. If you want a sportier driving experience with the SRX, go for all-wheel drive or the Performance or Premium model.

The SRX’s cabin is truly of a premium brand. From the design itself and the materials to the technologies, almost everything is top-notch. The uniqueness of the center console is eye-catching, as well as how the wood accents blend with leather.

The SRX can seat up to five passengers. Rear headroom, though, is limited by the panoramic sunroof. The cargo space is not anything special. It measures from 30 to 61 cubic feet when the rear seatbacks are folded down.

The 2014 Cadillac SRX is offered in four trim levels: Standard, Luxury, Performance and Premium.

The base SRX comes with daytime running lights, LED taillights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, 8-speaker Bose audio system with satellite radio and HD radio, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, CUE, driver information system, keyless ignition, OnStar, 8-way power driver seat, leatherette seats, split-folding rear bench seat with pass-through, and leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.

The Luxury trim level adds keyless access, power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive remote start, ambient interior LED lighting, auto-dimming rearview mirror, front and rear park assist, rearview camera, rear cross-traffic alert, side blind zone alert, leather seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, power sunroof, and wood interior trim.

The SRX Performance model gets fog lights, adaptive xenon headlights, 20-inch aluminum wheels, 10-speaker Bose surround sound system, and voice-guided navigation system.

The Premium trim level offers most of the aforementioned features together with IntelliBeam headlights, tri-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.

Some of the optional features you can equip your Caddy with are rear-seat entertainment system, Driver Assist Package (includes adaptive cruise control), and sport suspension.
